Unravelling

This photo / journal course looks fun. I know a few people who might like to do something like this, so I'm posting here:

Woes and Hacks

My URL for Facebook now redirects me to some dude's MySpace page. Every time. This sucks.

Dear LJ Friends,

I'm bashful about saying this. However, there are four important things I would like you to know:

1. I read every word you write. I love it. I'm here every single day to witness your stuff—good, bad, crazy, whatever—should you care to share it with me. Cuz I love you.

2. I appreciate it when you read what I write on my blog. Seriously. More than I can possibly express to you. THANK YOU.

3. If you comment on my syndicated posts on LJ, I do not get a notification that you have done so. I might miss your comment. This notion breaks my heart and gives me cold sweats, so if you want to be sure I'll see it, please click over to the blog (www.loveinthesuburbs.com) to leave your comment. (Asking you to do this is the part that makes me embarrassed.)

4. I miss the dialogue that was possible on LJ, which makes me kind of sad that I moved.

Love ya.

Free Couches

We are giving away two matching couches, so please speak up if you want them. They are about 18 years old and need a professional steam cleaning, but otherwise they are in pretty good shape. They probably have several more years' worth of use in them, especially if you don't have small people throwing the pillows all over the place like I did. They are upholstered in a pastel fabric that includes mainly shades of blue and beige; the pattern is abstract (no flowers or anything) and kind of ... impressionistic-looking. They are comfortable and about 8-feet long.

I would love to see someone get some more use out of them.

Syndicated

Dakini syndicated my new blog, in case you would like to keep up with my antics AND I HOPE YOU WILL:

"For those who like to aggregate all the blogs they read onto their LiveJournal friends page, I've syndicated Sara's blog. You can add it to your friends page here: http://syndicated.livejournal.com/loveinsuburbs/  "

Thanks, Dakini!

Love in the Suburbs: Launch

Shameless self-promotion follows:

I've launched my new blog (some might say "relaunched" and some might say it's an old blog): Please check out Love in the Suburbs at

http://loveinthesuburbs.com/wordpress/

It's a work in progress, but it now contains five years' worth of writings, so as content launches go, that's not too shabby. There is a new nifty Photos page now. I have plans to add more pages and found a great technical helper named Jennette Fuldo of Make My Blog Pretty.

I have tons to learn. Wordpress is not an easy platform, but it's by far the most flexible, according to my research. It has the greatest capacity to grow in every direction. So, now is when I need to spend some time and effort getting up to speed and getting the word out. So, you all have permission to spread the word to anyone you think might be interested in what I have to say.

*** It feels so weird to type that! ***

As you might guess, this whole thing is causing me to explore issues of public/private, self-confidence/insecurity, professional/family and to wear the opposing hats of both visionary and doomsayer.

Anyway, I would love to hear your thoughts ... (especially any supportive, constructive ones).

*** Yikes ***
